This I think was the Valentines swell earlier this year (2012). I sat and watched then took some photos. I used a 70 – 300 Nikkor that was just recently passed onto my friend Chad in Colorado. He’s having much more luck shooting wildlife. Enjoy.

And so it goes…

It’s been quite some time since I clicked the “Add New” button within my own WordPress site. Can’t tell for sure I’m going to do it more often from now on but it’s fun to think about. What I can tell you is the sequence of events that brought me all the way across this wonderful country to a tiny carriage house nestled in the center of San Francisco. It started with a bond. An incredible connection with a woman from the part of the United States we both just said our goodbyes. Both Audra and I both felt the urge to seek out our own adventure together on the West Coast and do it as newlyweds. “Why would you want to move to California?” Some said, but our answer has always been, “Adventure!”

So here we are. Not far from the most colorful landmark on the planet. The big rainbow flag on Castro and Market. It represents being able to walk around naked and not give a flying fudge. Well, it has much more meaning but you get the point. Self expression is tolerated on a different level in these parts. This is one thing we love about our new home. The only thing that may feel weird is the 7 year old tourist, with unsuspecting parents, locked eyes with old man exposed noodle tool. Not cool.

So it’s been almost 11 months since we packed up the Subaru and scooted across the vast free land to the beautiful city on the bay. Audra’s got her self busy selling sustainable jewelry and me deep in startup land. It’s hasn’t been cake but we are getting closer to calling this place home. I could go on, and I will but I think this enough for a blog revisit.

Process went like this…Do all the typography in Adobe Illustrator using the Warp Mesh Tool to get the text to curve the way I wanted. Exported a version 8 .ai file for import into Cinema4D. Extruded all the text for 3D look. Added my custom studio setup. Rendered and then imported into Photoshop for some coloring and texturing. Voilà!
